| SURGICAL PROCEDURE |

Medial epicanthoplasty
Small incision is made at inner corner of eye. The skin fold and tight muscle are released and re-draped to get along with the line of double lid crease. The suture line is hidden along the inner surface of eyes. Redness appears during the first month and usually disappears in three months. |

Lateral canthoplasty
After outer corner designation, eyelid skin and conjunctiva are incised and elevated to new position. Suturing is done along the inner surface of eyelids to hide the scar. Redness and scar usually disappear after 3 months. |

| Both medial epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty can be performed in your doctor’s office, an outpatient surgical facility. It is generally performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation. |

| POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT |
|
| Redness at the inner corner is common side effet in early phase of healing. Scar is not uncommon but it can be treated with steroid injection. Subconjunctival redness is possible at outer corner surgery. |

| RECOVERY |
|
| Swelling is better in one week but red scar probably lasts longer. Subconjunctival redness at outer half will subside in two week if it occurs. Natural looking can be seen after 1-2 months. |
